The LA Times had a blurb today about “The Jesus Christ Show” on Saturday mornings on KFI-AM. The producer (Neil Saavedra), a professing Christian, has set up the format of the show where Jesus preaches on a topic and answers questions from callers. I know there are many Christians who say they sometimes hear an audible voice from God, so perhaps for the rest of us, Saturday mornings could guarantee us that privilege.
I’m all for creative connections to the God of the universe, but I’m not sure how I feel about Jesus doing a 3 hour show with about 30-60 minutes of ads. Does Jesus endorse some of the products who sponsor the show? Does that mean I should choose one product over the other? (I mean, if Jesus prefers Burger King, why wouldn’t I?) And if I disagree with the show, does that mean I disagree with Jesus?
Unfortunately for me, the show’s sponsors, or Jesus, I’m usually asleep. So I guess, I’ll have to look for other ways to hear the audible voice of Jesus.
