Congratulations to the Democrats for winning the majority of house seats and governorships. Tonight is a night to rightfully celebrate that the American people have spoken through their votes and chose your leadership!
Prayer: Lord, I am grateful for living in this country. I am grateful that we have an opportunity to enjoy the freedoms, the successes, and the privileges. God, I am grateful for our form of government where we are able to interact with our leaders in ways that most peoples in the world could never imagine.
As the Democrats take control of congress and the governorship of most states, I ask God for your blessing over them. I ask God that you would give your wisdom and guidance to these elected leaders of our country. Lord, I pray that they would lead with grace and truth. I pray that they would lead out of humility and as they work through the complex issues facing the day, God pour out your wisdom on our leaders. I pray that the Democrats would choose to work well with their colleagues across the aisle. Lord, I also pray for the Republican minority. I pray that they would be a loyal opposition in congress. I pray that you give them the ability to work well with their colleagues. And for the ways, Lord, where the Republicans and Democrats uniquely express your heart of leadership, may they recognize that in one another. And for the ways where both groups fall short of expressing your heart, may they admit their desires and need for your leadership.
Finally God, I pray for our president. He has never worked with a congress that has not been his own party. Give him humility and wisdom and the value for partnership. Lord, I pray for the president and his aides, that they would honor the opportunity available before them, rather than the bitterness of defeat.
