My Allegiances are torn

Thanks for visiting my blog, Serving Bread. Here you'll read stories, insights, reflections and ramblings from a campus minister, father, husband and Jesus-follower. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

The Cal State Northridge Men’s Basketball team plays host to UC Davis tonight. Who do I root for? (My alma mater or my mission field?) May the best team win–I will be celebrating Valentine’s Day without either of those two teams! (I tried to make the game a part of the date, but got ‘the look’ in response)

Dude. Alma mater always. Always. You may not have gone to the game, but I expect you to go onto campus tomorrow wearing UCD apparel and chanting “State school, state school” regardless of the game’s outcome. Aggies, dude. Aggies.

Well the Matadors took out UCD (so I won’t be wearing any apparel, then again, I have no UCD apparels!). Score was 91 to 74. The story is http://gomatadors.olinesports......0000003315

Finally, not sure I’m gonna go on campus chanting “state school” considering 1. that kind of hate is only reserved for Sac State; 2. Dude, it’s my mission field!

I think it really depends on whether or not you rooted for your alma mater’s athletics while you were there. If so, stick with it. If not, well then there isn’t really a conflict is thre?
