Also, the Macbook Pro has processors while faster, are much more expensive (and may not be worth the added performance gain) as well as a dedicated video card, most likely for gamers. You don't come off as a gamer to me so probably a Macbook would suit your needs. And I don't know how customizable Macs are, but if you're looking for a bigger HD or more RAM, I'd buy it elsewhere and install it myself. As for the ego part of having the best out there, have you seen the latest Mac/PC commercials comparing the two? Apparently, just by owning a Mac you're better off anyway and can be snobby enough for anyone (however false those ads may be)! Hope this helps.
