Thanks for visiting my blog, Serving Bread. Here you'll read stories, insights, reflections and ramblings from a campus minister, father, husband and Jesus-follower. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
(Actually, the title should be Northridge 2.1, but it would cause confusion, so I thought to title it 2.2. Kudos to the first person who figures out the significance of the title!)
In a few hours, I will be setting up a small table on the Cal State Northridge campus, welcoming new students to CSUN and to our world. Hundreds of students will walk through orientation, trying to figure out how they want to spend their time on campus.
Most of these students I may never see again. They may even sign up to get more information, only to never step foot at any of our meetings. But I am excited to meet those students in whom God is working. Some of these may end up as life-long friends. Some of these students may become believers before the end of their first year or the end of their seventh year (average graduation rates are close to 7 years).
But it is exciting to see what God has done in the last twelve months. I will stand at the table with several students tomorrow. We will talk of things that God has done in our community. I will have the opportunity to train and mentor these young students in evangelism and hospitality. The face of InterVarsity Matador Christian Fellowship will no longer be my face or my colleague’s face. That’s what most excites me!
