I like that Edwards has put poverty on the political map, but like you, I have strong doubts about his ability to do something about it. I agree that ending poverty will require significant heart change in the general population and that is something that can’t really be legislated. I’m all for leaders such as politicians leading heart change, but Edwards hasn’t done much in his speeches to prove to me that he can get people involved who are not already involved. That is to say, to address poverty, we need inspiration. At this point, Edwards only seems to be preaching to the choir.
